We are Arbique & Ahde.
Whether you’re working with Mark, Jen, Matt, Ray or any of our team members, you will soon see that we are interested in actually getting to know you and helping you with your legal affairs in a personal and attentive manner.
We take the time to understand not only the legal issue at hand but also the circumstances and the context in which it exists, so you can be sure that our advice will be practical, cost-effective, and tailored to those circumstances.
We’ve always done it this way. Our clients love it (or so they say). So much so that the vast majority of them are referred to us by existing clients and professional associates, and by our business and not-for-profit clients who rely on us as their go-to legal counsel. We’re particularly proud of the ever-growing number of new clients who are the children and grandchildren of clients we have represented for years, who have long since graduated from “clients” to “friends”.
The lawyers and professional staff at Arbique & Ahde are ready to assist you with all your legal matters. Contact us directly for assistance or advice. If your matter is outside of our practice areas, we have a reliable and capable network of colleagues to whom we will be pleased to refer you for expert assistance.

Mark was born in Ottawa and has practised law in the city’s west end since 1981. The following year, his oldest office associate was born. He and his wife live in Alta Vista where they spend as much time as possible with their two young grandchildren, an exhausting pastime he suffers every chance he gets. When he is not in the office or at the Calabogie Motorsport Park, Mark can probably be found (or not) sailing or otherwise wasting time at his cottage at an undisclosed location.
Some years ago (but still several years before Jerry Seinfeld’s version), Mark engaged in several conversations over his car phone – attached in those days to the car – with the driver who had stolen it. The thief bought gas (and a map … ?) with Mark’s VISA card (also in the car – Mark has learned many lessons the hard way) and then, dressed in Mark’s gym clothes from the trunk, held up a bank before colliding with another vehicle on Parkdale Avenue later that same day and fleeing the scene before Mark could ask him why the driver’s seat was soaking wet. You can’t make this stuff up.

Jennifer grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and moved to Ottawa in 2001, where she attended the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009. She has been practicing in the areas of Real Estate, and Wills & Estates since the outset, and offers her clients thorough and competent advice to complete transactions and make life plans that are both suited to their needs and practical in execution.
Away from the office, Jennifer enjoys a variety of sports and activities including curling, golfing, biking, yoga, and travel. She is a member of the Ottawa Curling Club and the Rotary Club of West Ottawa, and a Board Member of Rotel, a local non-profit motel where patients, and their families, can stay in an affordable way while attending appointments at local hospitals or medical clinics.
Jennifer participated in the House of Commons Page Program in 2001, an experience which led to a handful of fascinating positions around Parliament Hill and in the public service as a university student.

Business Law
Matthew was born and raised in Ottawa’s east end but before joining Arbique and Ahde in 2019, he practised law in Toronto and British Columbia.
He’s experienced in appearing before the Ontario courts, as well as advocating for administrative tribunals, such as the Ontario Real Estate Association. Matthew also acts as outside general counsel for many not-for-profit corporations, including university and college student unions and arts and culture organizations. Matthew began his legal career working for the British Columbia government and then moved to Toronto, working in-house at an automotive company.
He obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa and his Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Victoria. As such, Matthew is licensed to practise law in Ontario and British Columbia.
Before Matthew attended law school, he had a previous career as a wildland firefighter. He now works from the safety of his office.

Raymond grew up in Rockland and obtained his law degree from the University of Ottawa. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2013, and has been practising law in Ottawa and the surrounding areas ever since.
He regularly advises businesses and their owners on a variety of matters ranging from shareholder agreements and mergers and acquisitions, to corporate financing and contractual mattes (and everything in between). Raymond is knowledgeable about the Ottawa business community and his clients rely on him for sound advice to make some of their most important decisions.
Ray is a passionate fan of the Montreal Canadiens. As a teenager, he took the train to Montreal to catch a game with his friends. While they somehow managed to keep themselves properly fed and watered, they also scored their own fifteen minutes of fame as the “Molson Fans of the Game” on the big screen at the Bell Centre. He now sells autographs to his many adoring fans.

Business Law
Emilie has lived in the west end of Ottawa since 2016, when she moved to the city to pursue post-secondary education at the University of Ottawa. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2023. Emilie, whose first language is French, is fully bilingual and can assist clients in both languages. She practices in the areas of residential real estate, will drafting, estate administration, corporate law, and litigation.
When she is not working, Emilie enjoys visiting wineries with friends, spending time at the cottage with her husband, traveling, reading, and listening to and discovering new music.
Emilie is a proud member of the Rotary Club of West Ottawa, a fulfilling pursuit that allows her to contribute to her local and international community while learning new things and meeting new people.
Emilie grew up in the countryside of Verner, Ontario, a small town in the Municipality of West Nipissing, where one can find a small but vibrant community of Franco-Ontarians and the best poutine in Ontario (an uncontested fact). As a child, Emilie had to plant and harvest potatoes in her father’s potato garden every spring and fall, a much-dreaded responsibility she now looks back on with fondness.
